Tanya Williams
President Elect

I have been part of the UCLA community since 1989. I first fell in love with UCLA as an undergraduate. Upon graduation I left the University, but soon realized that UCLA was the place I wanted to be. I returned to UCLA as a career employee in 1998. Since that time I have worked for Conference Services in the Housing & Hospitality Department.

I have been involved with Staff Assembly for the past six years, serving as a committee member for the Small Business Resource Fair and Casino Night. Last year, I was elected Vice President of Events, and chaired both planning committees to raise funds for the Staff Assembly Awards and Scholarships. This experience on the board has led me to want to continue my involvement with Staff Assembly. Through my engagement on the Staff Assembly board, I have gained extensive knowledge about the organization and gained a true appreciation for the work Staff Assembly does to promote staff and staff development. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with staff from all over campus and I am more in tune with University affairs as a direct result of my interactions with Staff Assembly as well as my participation in the Professional Development Program (PDP).

As President--Elect my goals are:

  1. To increase staff involvement on the UCLA campus,
  2. Advocate for issues that are important to staff, ???
  3. LISTEN to what the staff has to say,
  4. Promote professional development for staff,
  5. Continue to offer events that the staff will enjoy, and
  6. Continue to raise funds for Staff Assembly to benefit staff development and recognition.

I will also leverage my participation on the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA) as well as our access to the Staff Advisor to the Regents, so that staff voices can be heard at the highest level.

UCLA is a huge campus and I want to continue to bridge the gap and make staff feel apart of the UCLA community. It would be a great honor to continue serving our staff community and to be a liaison between staff and administration.
